Development Manager
The Development Manager is responsible for all details associated with the production and development of on-going and new special events, recruitment of new donors to support educational events, and donor cultivation events. This position will support in grant research functions for the development department using the research systems such as iWave and Instrumental. This position will maintain concise records for all items pertaining to each individual event including income, expenses, media coverage, marketing, correspondence, volunteers, and in-kind gifts utilizing the database system. This position is responsible to meet all objectives set by the Director of Development by increasing Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada’s event capacity, visibility, and achieve its strategic goals. The Development Manager ensures best practices for event administration, communication and database management to ensure excellent stewardship of donor and community giving. The Development Manager will be responsible for fostering long-term relationships, cultivating and growing JASN existing donor base, and turning critically important accounts into deeply engaged and strategic partners. The Development Manager will partner with all the event committees to set priorities and execute the event plan for each individual event. They will direct and champion the day-to-day logistics of each event while proactively identifying additional opportunities to enhance the visibility and revenue of the business. This position reports directly to the Director of Development and works collaboratively with development staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders to meet the goals of Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada.

Primary Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and Lead Event Development Strategy:
- Develop guidelines and quality standards, including troubleshooting problems and issues within job guidelines.
- Increase JASN’s event capacity by following annual objectives set forth by the Director of Development and Board of Directors established each year to help support the long-range plan of financial stability for JASN.
- Manage and direct volunteer recruitment, recognition, and coordination for each event. Develop event timelines and schedules for each event and distribute to staff, volunteers, venue, and committee members. Each event will have an event needs list to include details and on-going activity needed for marketing of the event through tools such as website, online sales, online social media sites, email blasts design and distribution.
- Partner with the committee chair to support and help lead all committee meetings, maintain notes from each meeting and distribute to Director of Development and members.
- Personally addresses any customer complaints or concerns, insures proper resolution is reached and communicates to Director of Development and Committee Chair any event issues including suggested resolution of complaint/concern.
- Solicit and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors and in-kind donors by developing year-round cultivation, recognition, and stewardship programs. Record all transactions in appropriate database and thank you processing. Assure design and implementation of each event program, with feedback and necessary tools/check and balance systems to ensure integrity and transparency in reporting results and outcomes.
- Manage negotiation for venues and expenses for each event with final approval from Director of Development and Committee Chair.
- Coordination and design of event marketing materials for JASN special events including graphic arts, production, printing, and distribution. All collateral will have oversight and approval from Director of Development.
- Actively design and develop new events that will be profitable for JASN and increase visibility and awareness for organization.
Strategic Planning and Organizational Development:
- Work closely with other members of JASN’s executive management team to craft overall organizational strategy and goals for special events.
- Ensure that each event has a “close” meeting to address strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) with solutions for areas of concern.
Leadership:
- Send in a timely manner all media coordination, create and distribute press releases which will include all program and graphic information. All media will be reviewed by Director of Development prior to airing, printing, and distribution.
- Track with accounting guidelines all income/expense for each event.
- Effectively communicate with Director of Development any potential major gifts donor.
- Responsible for being the lead in event sponsorship revenue, production and design.
- Oversee performance measures, monitor results, and help the Director of Development and Board of Directors evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s event development, communications, and programs.
- Recruitment of enough volunteers to execute event to the Standards of JASN.
- Participate and oversee volunteers in the set up and tear down of each event.
Lead External Relationships with Current and Potential Donors:
- Assist Director of Development with identifying potential large donors and maintaining those relationships as directed.
- Research grant opportunities to meet the established goals of the department for new grant prospects- supplying potential grant information to Director of Development and President
- Support grant team to ensure grants are sent in on time within in the confirms of the grantor
- Communicate with all committee members’ pertinent information, be attentive during conversations, and keep an open mind with suggestions made.
Communications and Marketing:
- Support the Director of Development in monitoring competitive trends and identify new and emerging competitive threats with an eye towards developing marketing strategies that address these issues in your department.
- Create and distribute writing of proposals and solicitation materials for each event.
- Work with JASN team on all agency collateral, including case statements, brochures, social media, public relations and website.
Administration:
-Develop annual master event plan detailing budget, logistics, and department needs 45 days prior to fiscal year-end close with final approval from Director of Development and President including timelines.
- Develop and submit a detailed budget with itemized expenses for approval to the Director of Development for every ongoing or new event that stays within the constraints of the operations budget approved by the Board of Directors.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of donor database integrity; assure design and maintenance of donor/prospect records, gift management systems and informational reports.
- Ensure that each event and solicitations are carried out in keeping with the JASN values, mission, vision and plans.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws; maintain accountability standards to donors, and ensure compliance with code of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct for fundraising executives.
Qualifications (required)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Five years’ experience in development including working with corporations.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in executing the logistics of events within a fast-paced environment, sales or related experience with individuals, corporations and foundations in a professional capacity with strong attention to detail while managing multiple client accounts.
- Computer literate in all Microsoft Office Programs with strong skills and abilities in design type programs such as Canva, Constant Contact, & Adobe Suite.
- Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing; excellent public speaking skills; adept at writing proposals, solicitation letters, donor correspondence, and other kinds of material to enhance event fundraising.
- Proof reading, grammar, and ability to write logically and creatively
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines. Persuasive and driven for results.
- Be creative, innovative and progressive; possess good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-starter.
- Volunteer development and management skills.
- Ability to work in multiple environments, year round temperatures, lift at least 25lbs, sit or stand for long periods of time, typing or using a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability and disciplined in handling confidential information with a sense of urgency
- Successful completion of civil, criminal and motor vehicle background checks.Successfully pass drug testing
