Impact

The Development Coordinator will support and help organize fundraising campaigns in an effort to increase revenue. The Development Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting the Development team in raising money and awareness of Junior Achievement through direct giving campaigns. Overseeing the marketing coordination behind individual giving mailers, social media initiatives, identifying unique audiences to JASN and implementing giving and awareness campaigns that lead to action being taken by different target audiences. This team member will work to develop strong relationships with donors who have an annual capacity up to $1,000 gifts. They will support the Director of Development and Development Manager in with administrative functions for special events. Solid experience in marketing and fundraising is expected to reach the annual goals of this role. The Development Coordinator will proactively be identifying additional opportunities to enhance the visibility and revenue of the business throughout their duties.

Primary Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and Lead Fund Development Strategy:
• Participate in crafting and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to enable sustainable growth and achievement of JA’s mission and strategic goals.
• Increase JASN’s fundraising capacity through a strengthened culture of philanthropy demonstrated by increased major giving, planned giving, corporate giving, grant funding, annual giving and events to fund the long-range plan of financial stability for the JASN.
• Manage and direct a comprehensive fund development plan that identifies prospects and donors, business and community partners to achieve short and long-term agency goals.
• Partner with the President/CEO and Development staff to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations.
• Develop new portfolio of prospects and donors, nurture existing partners, prepare compelling oral and written proposals, and effectively steward all relationships.
• Solicit and maintain corporate sponsors by developing year-round cultivation, recognition and stewardship programs. Assure design and implementation of such programs, with feedback and necessary tools/check and balance systems to ensure integrity and transparency in reporting results and client outcomes.
• Manage major gifts/individual donor program, as well maintaining and growing JASN’s significant grants program for corporations and foundations.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of donor database integrity; assure design and maintenance of donor/prospect records, gift management systems and informational reports.

Strategic Planning and Organizational Development:
• Work closely with President/CEO, Board of Trustees and key stakeholders to assess and evaluate current programming and organizational capacity in relation to mission, community need, competitive agencies, agency capacity and funding.
• Work closely with other members of JASN’s executive management team to craft overall organizational strategy and goals.

Development:
• Lead and manage the Development team, building on its culture and productivity as a positive, cohesive, highly functioning group.
• Provide oversight of all of the organization’s fund development activities, manage the day-to-day operations of the development function, and monitor adequacy of activities through coordination with the President/CEO, Chief Operations Officer, other senior staff and selected committees.
• Effectively supervise the Development team staff to ensure department goals are measured and attained.
• Oversee performance measures, monitor results, and help the President/CEO and Board of Trustees evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s fund development, communications, and programs.

Lead External Relationships with Current and Potential Donors:
• Lead relationship-building strategy and activities with major individual donors, personally developing relationships with key donors and prospective donors, and supporting senior staff to do the same. Continually build JASN’s pipeline of potential supporters, building on referrals from Board members, current advocates, and research.
• Internal Leaders: Support senior staff (President/CEO, Vice Presidents, Directors, etc.) and Board members on how to effectively fundraise, helping them to identify potential donors, cultivate potential donors, and steward ongoing donors.

Communications and Marketing:
• Support the President in monitoring competitive trends and identify new and emerging competitive threats with an eye towards developing marketing strategies that address these issues.
• Lead the communications and marketing team.
• Oversee and manage development and writing of proposals and solicitation materials.
• Work with JASN team on all agency collateral, including case statements, brochures, social media, public relations and website.

Administration:
• Team with the Chief Operations Officer for budget development and management; assure sound fiscal operation of the development function, including timely, accurate and comprehensive development of charitable contributions income and expense budgets, reporting, monitoring and implementation.
• Provide staffing to the Board of Trustees and assigned board committees as needed.
• Ensure that philanthropy, fund development and communications are carried out in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision and plans.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws; maintain accountability standards to donors, and ensure compliance with code of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct for fundraising executives.

Flexible Work Place
• This position reports directly to the President & CEO and with their approval may work up to 30% of their time remote from home. This is strictly on an as needed basis and can be revoked at any time. Not to exceed 12 hours a week and will not be carried over. Failure to provide adequate documentation as needed on assignments may lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. ALL policies are maintained while working your shift

Qualifications (required)

• Associates’ degree or equivalent. Two (2) years’ experience in development including working with
corporations.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a fast-paced environment, sales or related experience with
individuals, corporations and foundations in a professional capacity with strong attention to detail while managing
multiple client accounts.
• Computer literate in all Microsoft Office Programs with preferred strong skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In
Design, and Acrobat.
• Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing; excellent public
speaking skills; adept at writing proposals, solicitation letters, donor correspondence, and other kinds of material
to enhance event fundraising.
• Proof reading, grammar, and ability to write logically and creatively
• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines. Persuasive and driven for results.
• Be creative, innovative and progressive; possess good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Self-starter.
• Ability to work in multiple environments, year-round temperatures, lift at least 25lbs, sit or stand for long periods
of time, typing or using a computer for extended periods of time.
• Ability and disciplined in handling confidential information with a sense of urgency
• Successful completion of civil, criminal and motor vehicle background checks.
• Successfully pass drug testing
